4-channel or 2-channel audio can be selected in the DVCPRO and DV formats on a P2 card.

Write-protect switchover can be performed while the card is being accessed (during recording or playback), but does not take effect until access to the card ceases.

Q5. Can I format a P2 card using a PC?

Please be sure to format a P2 card with the following software.

Otherwise, please be sure to format a P2 card using a P2 product.

Q6. Can I copy data from a P2 card to a PC?

Yes, you can. Please find the folder "CONTENTS" and copy the whole "CONTENTS" folder to a PC.
Click here to see more infomation.

Q7. I have one clip recorded onto two P2cards (Spanned clip). Can the clip be recognized as one clip after copying to PC?

It cannot be recognized as one clip if you copy the data on two cards separately, because linkage information between the cards cannot be copied.

In this situation, we recommend you use P2 Viewer with a PC which has two PCMCIA slots or a P2 Drive (AJ-PCD20 series) to copy the clip together with linkage information.

Connection

Q8. Can I use the USB1.1 port on my PC with P2 products?

P2 products support only USB2.0. They do not support a PC compatible with only USB1.1.

Q9. Can I use a P2 Card with MacBookPro ?

If you use a P2 Card with MacBookPro, a DuelAdapter is required. The DuelAdapter is a product of Duel Systems.

The adaptor allows PCMCIA cards to be used in an ExpressCard slot with a Mac.

Please refer to the web site of Duel Systems for more information.

http://www.duel-systemsadapters.com/

[Note]

1.  In order to remove and re-insert a P2 card, it is necessary to reboot the MacBookPro.

The same reboot step is required when removing the DuelAdapter from the MacBookPro and then reinserting it.

2.  P2 card in a DuelAdapter is not recognized on Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard),

since there is no DuelAdapter driver software for Mac OS 10.6.

Please use DuelAdapter on Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard).

When using a P2 card on Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) of MacBookPro,

please use a P2 camera, recorder or P2 drive equiped with USB2.

Q11. AVC-Intra support on Final Cut Pro 7 ?

P2 AVC-Intra clip is able to be imported as native AVC-Intra QuickTime file into a bin of Final Cut Pro 7.

The import speed is faster than previous version because transcoding is not necessary.

Please note that rendering to ProRes422 is required for effects on a timeline due to unsupported AVC-Intra encoder.

Therefore, QuickTime export of AVC-Intra is impossible.
