Q1. Can the AG-HVX200/A SERIES output the SD or HD signal through the IEEE1394 terminal?

The AG-HVX200/A SERIES can output the SD or HD signal through the IEEE1394 terminal according to the menu setting.

Select the format in the "REC FORMAT" item of the CAMERA menu.

In the native format, 720/24PN, 720/25PN or 720/30PN, the AG-HVX200/A SERIES cannot output the signal through the IEEE1394 terminal.

In this case, record a picture on a P2 card once and then play it back.

When the output is a signal recorded on the P2 card, the signal is output through the IEEE1394 terminal in its recorded format and cannot be output through the IEEE1394 terminal in an up-converted or down-converted one.

Q2. Can the AG-HVX200/A SERIES dub clips recorded on a P2 card to a DV tape?

The AG-HVX200/A SERIES can dub an HD signal recorded on a P2 card, including in Native mode, to a DV tape. However, it cannot dub an SD signal recorded on a P2 card to a DV tape.

Q3. Can the AG-HVX200/A SERIES seamlessly playback a clip which has been recorded spanning plural P2 cards?

Seamless playback is possible of clips spanning a maximum of two separate cards.

Changing from Slot 1 to Slot 2 is performed automatically during playback.

But after finishing playback of the part of the clip in Slot 2, the unit stops playback and can not continue to playback the next part of the clip recorded on a third P2 card and inserted in Slot 1.

*You can record continuously on three or more cards by replacing one card while data is being recorded on the other. (Hot swap recording)

Q4. Can the AG-HVX200/A SERIES output the signal through the component out and the composite out simultaneously while shooting?

No, the AG-HVX200/A SERIES cannot output the signal to the component out and the composite out simultaneously in any mode, recording nor playback.

When both are connected, the component out has priority.

Q5. Can the AG-HVX200/A SERIES transform the aspect ratio to Letter Box when dubbing a signal recorded on a P2 card to a DV tape?

No. The recording formats of clips, which can be dubbed from a P2 card to a DV tape, are 1080i and 720p.

So, only squeeze mode is available and other down-conversion modes such as LETTER BOX are not available.

The LCD monitor and the viewfinder always show the picture with 16:9 aspect ratio while dubbing.

Q6. Is the signal output from the IEEE1394 terminal while using INTERVAL REC or ONE SHOT recording functions?

No signal is output from IEEE1394 terminal when using those functions.

IEEE1394 output stops when ONE SHOT or INTERVAL is selected in the “REC FUNCTION” menu.

Q7. Does the FOCUS FS-100 output HD stream from AG-HVX200/A SERIES?

YES, the FS-100 outputs HD video stream from the IEEE1394 terminal.

You can record HD video stream from HVX200 with HD VTRs such as AJ-HD1200A and AJ-HD1400 via FS-100’s IEEE1394 terminal.

Q8. Can the AG-HVX200/A SERIES synchronize timecode over IEEE1394 from another AG-HVX200/A SERIES?

Yes, it can be done with DV cassette or P2 card recording. Please refer below for the procedure.

1. Connect IEEE 4pin – 4pin cable between AG-HVX200/A SERIES units.

2. Set SW and MENU of the Master (TC signal source) unit.

  MEDIA SW : “VCR”.

MENU:

1394 TC REGEN : OFF

TCG : FREE RUN

FIRST REC TC : PRESET (<= not needed when you record on P2 card)

3. Set SW and MENU of the remote controlled unit

  MEDIA SW : “VCR”.

MENU:

1394 TC REGEN : ON

TCG : FREE RUN

FIRST REC TC : PRESET (<= not needed when you record on P2 card)

  * Make sure that “1394TC” is displayed on the Viewfinder

  c) Press “RESET/TC SET” button. (HVX200 displays “TC SET OK”)

4. Set “MEDIA SW” of both AG-HVX200/A SERIES units to “CAMERA”.

Q9. How can AG-HVX200/A SERIES footage be captured from a “P2 card” or “DV cassette” to Final Cut Pro?

By file transferring (from P2 card)

[Connection & Settings]

1.       Open the menu in AG-HVX200/A SERIES: “OTHER FUNCTIONS” and set “PC MODE” to “1394”.

2.       Connect the HVX200 and Mac with an IEEE1394 cable and then press the “Mode Button” for 2 seconds (switches to PC mode).

3.       Make sure that the AG-HVX200/A SERIES is recognized (mounted) by the Mac.

4.       Copy the “CONTENTS” folder to your preferred folder on the Mac.

[Capturing with Final Cut Pro]

5.       Open “File” => “Log & Transfer” (ver 6.x) / “File” => “import Panasonic P2” (ver 5.1) and then choose a folder one step above the “CONTENTS” folder.

By Stream capturing (from DV cassette or P2 card)

[Connection & Settings]

1.       Close the THUMBNAIL screen in the AG-HVX200/A SERIES if opened.

2.       Open the menu in the AG-HVX200/A SERIES : “OTHER FUNCTIONS” and then set “PC MODE” to “1394”.

3.       Connect the HVX200 and the Mac with an IEEE1394 cable and then set “mode lamp” to “MCR/VCR” with the “Mode Button” .
