1. Is the FS-P250 for use with only the AG-HPX250/HPX255 cameras?
When connected via SDI to the AG-HPX250/HPX255, the FS-P250 can be triggered to record by pressing the AG-HPX250/HPX255 REC button. In this case, the created file name of proxy clip is identical with P2 clip of AG-HPX250/HPX255.
You cannot control FS-P250 from other cameras than AG-HPX250/HPX255, but it is possible to manually control the FS-P250 by pressing recording button. The created file name of proxy clip is not identical with hi-res, but an FS-P250 original file name is created.

2. What kind of limitations are there when using FS-P250?
The FS-P250 connected to AG-HPX250/HPX255 functions the same way as AJ-HPX3100 with the optional AJ-YDX30 Video Encoder Board, AJ-WM30 Wireless Module and AJ-SFU3100 Upgrade Software Key. However, there are some limitations as described below.

1) Proxy Mode
The FS-P250 does not support HQ mode with 4CH audio, and STD mode of 1.5Mb/s bit rate, 320x240 resolution, 30/25/24FPS with AAC 2CH audio that are supported with AJ-HPX3100.
The FS-P250 with the AG-HPX250/HPX255 supports 720/60P, 50P Proxy recording, while AJ-HPX3100 does not.

2) PRE REC mode
Please make sure that the PRE REC menu of FS-P250 is ON when AG-HPX250/HPX255 PRE REC mode is enabled.

3) Recording synchronization
The FOCUS FS-P250 proxy clips are more or less 1-2 frames different from the AG-HPX250/HPX255 hi-res clips. Furthermore, FS-P250 Proxy files might not be created if recording is repeated on and off in a very short period of time on the FS-P250 while controlled by AG-HPX250/HPX255.

4) Bit Rate of Live streaming mode
FS-P250 live streaming encode mode is 800Kb/s regardless of proxy mode (SHQ, HQ, LOW).

5) Wireless browser
You can select a function for each six fixed fields of FS-P250 internal wireless browser. However, unlike AJ-HPX3100, you cannot change the number of the fields to customize. Finally, multiple presets for the customized layout are not supported.

6) Text Memo input available on live streaming monitor
Text Memo input is delayed about one to three seconds when monitoring live streaming on a wireless browser from the FS-P250. The delay depends on the terminal used.

7) Organize P2 files
The FS-P250 creates a CONTENTS folder after proxy file(s) have been recorded; however, the created XML and thumbnail files do not conform to P2 specifications at this point. You can play back the created MOV files located in PROXY subfolder using a QuickTime compatible media player.
To play back FS-P250 recorded proxy clips on P2 viewer, it is necessary to first use the FS-PCS desktop application to organize the proxy clips into P2 file structure. The Focus FS-PCS desktop application is included with the FS-P250.

8) Proxy recording in VFR mode:
FS-P250 can not record if AG-HPX250/HPX255 is VFR mode on the following format,
other frame rate than normal (24, 25 or 30FRAME) of FRAME RATE setup for Native VFR recording (1080pN24, 1080pN25, 1080pN30, 720pN24, 720pN25 and 720pN30). In these mode, audio on the camera is muted and recording control is not possible.

In the case of 720p60 and 720p50, the recorded proxy frame rate varies depending on its mode and camera VFR frame rate setup as below:

Trouble shooting
3. The FS-P250 recording start and stop frames do not seem to synchronize with AVC-Intra hi-res clip recorded by AG-HPX250/HPX255.
The FS-P250 starts recording about 4 to 5 frames later than AG-HPX250/HPX255 hi-res cameras and stops about 1 to 2 frames earlier. Therefore hi-res contents should exist on off-line/on-line editing.
In PRE REC mode, proxy recording might be delayed for 1 to 3 seconds maximum.
Please note that if AG-HPX250/HPX255 camera is set to One Clip REC mode, some frames will not exist between the created proxy clips.

4. The FS-P250 does not start proxy recording when pressing REC button of the camera connected by SDI.
Please check the following items:
1) Are you using the AG-HP250 or AG-HPX255 camera? You cannot control the recording of the FS-P250 from another camera.
2) Please confirm the following menu on the AG-HPX250/HPX255 camera:
OUT PUT SET > SDI METADATA = EXPANDED
RECORDING SETUP > UB MODE = FRM.RATE

5. What will happen if SDI cable is disconnected from FS-P250 while recording?
Please stop recording on AG-HPX250/HPX255 when SDI is disconnected

The FS-P250 creates a file with the AV data recorded until SDI connection is interrupted; however, if the FS-P250 is controlled by the AG-HPX250/HPX255 and the camera continues to record, the FS-P250 will discard the recorded AV data and will overwrite the file with new AV data so as to follow the current P2hi-res file name when SDI is connected again.
Please stop recording on AG-HPX250/HPX255 when SDI is disconnected, reconnect SDI then start recording on AG-HPX250/HPX255.

6. What is the frame rate of DVCPRO HD 1080/24P?
Although DVCPRO HD 1080/24P hi-res is a 2:3 pull-down over 60i, the proxy frame rate is 24FPS just like AVC-Intra 1080/24P native recording.
However, in the case of DVCPRO HD 1080/24PA 2:3:3:2 over 60i, proxy frame rate is 30FPS.

7. Sometimes recorded timecode does not count up.
When TC SUPER mode of FS-P250 is EXTERNAL, superimposed timecode of the recorded proxy might not count up during PRE REC with REC RUN setup of AG-HPX250/HPX255, or for short recording period right after turning on AG-HPX250/HPX255.

8. Battery level LCD does not show 100% for the charged battery of FS-P250.
When a battery charge LED light green, the battery charge is complete. The battery level LCD displays different battery level depending on each FS-P250 battery.

9. I can not monitor live streaming on wireless browser of Windows.
A VLC plug-in (free software player) is required for live streaming on Internet Explorer on Windows computer. Please install VLC 2.0.1. Note that VLC 2.0.3 is not supported for this purpose.

10. I cannot use a SD card formatted by FS-P250 in AJ-HPX3100 and other P2 equipment.
P2 equipment need SD cards conform to SD card specifications. So Please format a SD card with the P2 equipment you are using. A SD card formatted with the FS-P250 conforms to FAT32 file format; consequently, it can be used on PC and Mac without any problem, but not on P2 equipment.

11. How long is the delay for live streaming from the FS-P250?
The delay depends on the system you are using, but it is typically between seven to nine seconds.

12. Why is there a shorter delay with live streaming from the AJ-HPX3100 camera on Windows?
Streaming. RTP mode was designed for Windows and the delay is shorter than HTTP Live Streaming.
FS-P250 only supports HTTP Live Streaming mode; therefore, the delay is longer than AJ-HPX3100 on Windows.
